Sentho Kilgore is going back to her village in Sierra Leone, Africa, for the dedication of the school built with money collected by Skyline Community Church. People from four villages have been working hard to finish the work in time. They are almost finished plastering.
However, the villagers need more money for materials, furnishings and supplies. Fifty more bags of cement are required, lumber for furniture, paint, and all the things children must have as they study and learn: books, paper, pencils, scissors, markers, even chalk. They estimate $1870.00 will be needed.
Sierra Leone elected a new president, President HE Ernest Bai Kroma and Sentho is expecting good things from him. Sentho commented, “Steve, Matia, Jeneba and I met Ernest before he was elected President. We did a fundraiser for him in Sacramento in December 2006, just before we left for Sierra Leone.” Sentho has already invited him to the dedication of the new school.
We want to continue this exciting effort by collecting money at Christmas time. We want to honor our commitment to peace and justice by providing a place where 304 children from four villages can study and learn. “It may be many more children than that,” says Sentho. “When they hear some children are going to school, others will come.”
Sentho wants to send money immediately so the materials can be purchased, used, and the school finished before the dedication. This is our chance to contribute.
Please put a check in the collection plate to Skyline Church with “Sierra Leone” on the note line, or mail a check to the church. Every cent of our money will be used for the school.
